We're in a golden age of free fonts.
But like most things in life, the following lesson applies:you get what you pay for. Correctly drawn fonts have built in kerning and usually contain extra glyphs (ñ,ü,ß, etc.) and characters, which is important if your typography purist or are working on a design with non-English text; free fonts often don’t contain this.
So give the font a test spin before you get started. So with that warning, I'll give you my most frequently visited free font sources:
- Font Squirrel
- The League of Moveable Type These are high-quality typefaces created by professionals, but often missing international characters
- Lost Type Coop Great fonts, which you can download for free, but a donation is requested.
- Da font
- My 'Font Fun' Pinterest board also has tons more examples most of which link to sources.
