One of the fun things about working in the wedding industry is meeting new people and collaborating with them, even if it’s done remotely. Last fall I was approached by Daniela from Shop and Marry.
She was organizing a 1920s inspired styled shoot. A styled shoot is when different wedding professionals (photographers, make up artists, bridal attire, florists, stationers, etc.) all pitch in their services and/or products to create a photographs that can then be shopped around to magazines and blogs.
Daniela and her team had a neat concept, they secured an old deep red rail car, which set the stage for the old-timey wedding theme of the shoot. I contributed art-deco style wedding invitations, table numbers, place cards and a program cover. The design for the shoot contained a silhouetted cameo element.
I modified this design and it’s now in the shop as the Deco wedding invitation design set. I have to confess, designing in the art deco style didn’t come so easily to me, it’s not a trend I readily embraced. However I’m glad I cracked it in the end, the ‘Great Gatsby’ look is not going anywhere and so far this year the deco wedding design has been a best seller!
If you're in the DACH region, you can find more of these images in the February issue of MarryMag (Issue #6).
